The week at GamesRadar
Wow, what a busy week at GamesRadar+ towers. Between the Entertainment team chatting to Jon Favreau about Mandalorian Season 3, PlayStation hosting its first State of Play live stream of 2023, and Microsoft spilling more beans on its ongoing acquisition of Activision it's been pretty manic.

I personally travelled to Brussels and back in a day to hear Microsoft President Brad Smith talk about the new Xbox partnerships with Nintendo and Nvidia too. Who'd have thought I'd be writing about mergers and acquisitions on a Tuesday evening, eh?

We've also had the release of a few games and movies too, just to keep your on your toes. Let's take a look shall we?

What to Read
Everything announced at the PlayStation State of Play
(Sony)
Sony's first State of Play for 2023 was quite a mixed bag. We got reveals of new PSVR 2 games dropping in the next six months or so, a new game from the Tetris Effect developer, and 15 minutes of gameplay and other details on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Jon Favreau talks The Mandalorian season 3, Grogu's Jedi journey, and upcoming Star Wars projects
(Getty)
Molly Edwards got the chance to speak to Jon Favreau this week about the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian, but also about breaking the internet, and upcoming Star Wars shows Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. It's a great interview and well worth a read.

I still can't see a resolution for Microsoft's Activision buyout, even after the Nintendo and Nvidia deals
(Microsoft)
Even after listening to Microsoft President, Brad Smith, chatting about Xbox's intentions with Activision and Call of Duty if it acquires it, I still can't see what it can do to make PlayStation want to budge. It's getting a bit petty now, and making the whole console war narrative worse.

I've beaten Elden Ring twice and now all I want is an official photo mode
(Bandai Namco)
Or so says Joe Donnelly, our Features Writer. He's put a lot of hours into Elden Ring and yet all he wants right now is to take pretty pictures of it without having to resort to mods. It's easily FromSoftware's most attractive game, and biggest world yet, so it feels remiss to not be able to take advantage of that by snapping away at its best bits. What do you think?

The reaction to Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR 2 is near unanimous: "mind-blowing"
(Sony)
If you've got a PSVR 2, you need to test out the free virtual reality upgrade for Gran Turismo 7. It's eye-wateringly beautiful, and, alongside Horizon Call of the Mountain, is the best example of what Sony's new VR tech can do.

Atomic Heart is a "messy game with big ideas and a desperate need of refinement"
(Mundfish)
I'm really sad about the reception to this one as I've been hyped for it for quite some time. It's alt-history, inpsired by BioShock and looks stunning. However, because it's on Game Pass (PC and Xbox) I'm playing it for a little bit this weekend so I can make my mind up for myself.

The Strays cast break down Netflix's twisted new thriller inspired by Jordan Peele and Michael Haneke
(Netflix)
I love a Jordan Peele movie, so I'm definitely watching The Strays on Netflix with a beer and some pizza tonight. Fay Watson spoke to the cast about its inspirations and how it all unfolds (spoiler-free of course).

Cocaine Bear is "not as snort-out-loud funny as you'd hope"
(Universal Pictures)
I'm sorry, when a review that starts "The bear, it f**king did cocaine!", it's got to be a movie I need to see. Total Film didn't love it, but this is 2023's answer to Snakes on Plane and you're going to want to see it for the discourse alone.

Good News, Gamers
The attention to detail that Firesprite and Guerrilla Games has put into Horizon Call of the Mountain is genuinely staggering. Whether it's leaving instruments around to play with, paints and brushes, or simply just touching some ferns, it's honestly amazing. I'm glad the community is enjoying it as much as I have.
