On the Radar
Editor's Letter
(Sam Loveridge)
Somehow it's almost the end of January, and we're staring down the barrel of a tonne of brilliant game releases. Next week alone sees the launch of the Dead Space Remake, Forspoken, and Season - and then suddenly we're into February where there are at least 12 releases that are high up on our hype radar. Prepare yourselves folks.

But, it's an exciting time to be a gamer. It feels like 2023 already looks like the year of releaases we've been hoping for since the PS5 and Xbox Series X launched back in 2020.

Of course, it doesn't stop at the games though, with HBO's The Last of Us series doing everything right, and Brad Pitt's new movie Babylon dropping in UK cinemas today. There might be too much to do with your free time right now.

Fire Emblem Engage struggles to find the space to let this new roster grow
(Nintendo)
Fire Emblem Engage is out today (January 20), and although our reviewer Hirun states that the weapon triangle is fantastic and combat feels brilliantly strategic, it doesn't manage to blend its new and returning characters in a way that feels meaningful - or memorable.

The Last of Us episode 1 review: "Expands on the games - and often betters them"
(HBO)
The second episode of The Last of Us HBO series is dropping this Sunday and I honestly can't wait. The first episode was insanely good, perfectly capturing that opening sequence, and Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey excelling in their roles as Joel and Ellie.

PowerWash Simulator Tomb Raider DLC will let you clean up Lara Croft's filthy home
(FuturLab)
Okay, this is my news story of the week because I can't deny PowerWash Simulator's hypnotic charm. The idea of being able to systematically clean Croft Manor - aka a place I've spent a lot of time in over the years - fills be with absolute glee. The obstacle course? The Jeep? Ho boy. All that's missing is the butler in the freezer. Come on, we all did it, right?
