| |  | | | A conservative think tank filed a federal lawsuit seeking to undo the 624,000-acre Chuckwalla National Monument in the Southern California desert, claiming President Biden overstepped his authority when he set aside the land days before leaving office.
Plaintiffs represented by the Austin, Texas-based conservative think tank claim Biden abused the Antiquities Act of 1906, which allows presidents to create national monuments. The suit says the land set aside is too large to be within the confines of the law.
