Welcome to The New York Times

Welcome to The New York Times. I want to take this moment to thank you for registering and introduce myself.

A bit about me: I’m an editor who works with different sections (such as Style or Sports) to publish significant, multistory projects. Previously, I was a deputy editor on the Metro desk, conceiving, assigning and editing news stories about the New York area.

At The Times, I’ve worked with reporters to uncover a variety of stories. Recently I spearheaded a series called It’s Never Too Late, in which people — like Vijaya Srivastava, who learned to swim at age 68, or Russ Ellis, who recorded his first album at age 85 — share what it means to pursue their dreams on their own terms and timeline. I was also part of the team that edited a stunning, visually immersive article about the plan to protect Indigenous people against Covid in the Yellowknife area of Canada.

Currently, the changing climate demands attention. Our reporters have explained how overlapping disasters expose how unprepared we are in the U.S. for extreme weather events. And I was riveted by the truth revealed in the story called The Cotton Tote Crisis — I’m sure I’m not alone in having a tote collection that makes me part of the problem!
In addition to our in-depth coverage on climate change, our journalists are providing essential reporting on everything from politics to health to international, technology and more.

And if you need a break from it all, we have plenty to offer. A couple of pieces that made a major impact on me were Jazmine Hughes’s fun profile of the pop star Lil Nas X, and this interactive piece that taught me how to survive a bear attack.

The easiest way to catch our journalism is on the New York Times app. If you haven’t already, tune into “The Daily” for in-depth storytelling hosted by Michael Barbaro. You can also join our virtual live events for interviews and discussions that get you closer to our journalists and help you experience our journalism in a whole new way.
