Scrap metal thieves have made it dark and invisible The 6th Street Bridge was supposed to be a beacon of modern Los Angeles — a glowing "Ribbon of Light" welcoming the world ahead of the 2028 Olympics. Now, its arches are dark. Thieves have stripped more than 7 miles of copper wiring, leaving the landmark unlit for over a year. Replacing it will cost millions.
