Torrance boy, 9, detained by ICE with plans to deport him to Honduras; community outraged One day, 9-year-old Martir Garcia Lara, a fourth-grader at Torrance Elementary School, simply didn't show up for class. Teachers and PTA officials learned the boy and his father were taken into custody by ICE on May 29 after checking in with federal officials in downtown Los Angeles.
